📌 About the Program
“Voices in Print: Quiz Competition on Newspapers” is a specialized inter-campus quiz event organized by the Central Library to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Indian Library Science.
The competition tests students’ current affairs awareness, critical reading, and information retention based on coverage from four major Indian daily newspapers.
🗓️ Program Details & Schedule
- Target Audience: Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) students across both campuses
- Newspaper Preparation Period: July 20, 2026 – August 4, 2026
- Preliminary Round: August 5, 2026 (Written quiz at respective campus libraries)
- Final Round: August 7, 2026
- Prize Distribution Ceremony: August 12, 2026 (During Dr. S. R. Ranganathan’s Birth Anniversary celebration)
🎯 Quiz Format & Reading Scope
Newspaper Coverage & Syllabus
- Subscribed Dailies: The Hindu, Dinamalar, The Times of India, and The Indian Express.
- Preliminary Round Scope: News items published between July 6, 2026, and July 18, 2026 (displayed in the library for reference/note-taking).
- Final Round Scope: News items published specifically in the August 6, 2026 editions of all four dailies.
Rules & Rounds
- Team Structure: Teams of exactly two participants.
- Question Style: One-word/short answers based strictly on the specified newspaper editions.
- Selection Criteria: Top three winning teams in the final round selected based on accuracy and completion speed.
💰 Prizes & Recognition
- Main Awards: Prizes for the top 3 winning teams.
- Distribution: Awarded officially on August 12, 2026.
