📌About the Event
The Workshop on Mechanical Testing of Materials 2026 is a five-day hands-on programme organized by the Advanced Materials Processing Research Group (AMPRG), IIT Gandhinagar, from September 9–13, 2026. The workshop combines expert lectures with practical laboratory sessions covering fundamental and advanced mechanical testing, including tensile, compression, bending, hardness, fatigue, Digital Image Correlation (DIC), in-situ testing, multiaxial testing, and finite element simulation.

- Mode: Offline / On-campus at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- Duration: 5 days
- Timing: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.
- Format: Morning lectures followed by afternoon hands-on laboratory sessions.
- Participants will learn about tensile, compression, bending, hardness, fatigue and fracture testing, along with advanced techniques such as DIC, in-situ tensile testing and biaxial/multiaxial testing.
- The final part of the workshop covers finite element simulation, linking experimental results with computational prediction.
- Participants are requested to bring their own laptops for the simulation session on Day 5.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibilty:
- Faculty members and early-career researchers from Materials Science, Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering can participate.
- Graduate students and PhD researchers working in mechanical characterization are eligible.
- Industry professionals and R&D engineers involved in materials testing, quality control and structural integrity can also register.
- Participants should attend the practical and lecture sessions and carry a laptop for the simulation component.
- Accommodation may be available on request by contacting the workshop coordinator.
