About the Program
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) conducts an internship program as part of its advocacy mandate under Section 49 of the Competition Act, 2002. The program aims to familiarize students with the practical working of competition law and the role of CCI.
The CCI Internship attracts students from leading educational institutions across the country and provides practical exposure to the Commission’s operations. The internship is academic in nature and does not offer an assurance of employment with CCI.
Who Can Apply?
The eligibility criteria for the CCI internship program are:
- Open to Indian nationals only
- Applicant must be enrolled at a recognized institution or university
- Students who have a confirmed job placement are not eligible to apply
- Applicants should have exposure to Competition Law
Educational Qualifications
To gain the CCI internship experience, applicants must possess educational qualifications in the following fields:
- Economics and Management
- Pursuing an MA/MSc in Economics, or
- Fourth and final year of a five-year integrated Economics course, or
- Currently enrolled in an MBA program
- Law
- Second- and third-year students in a 3-year LLB program, or
- Fourth and final year students of a 5-year integrated law course, or
- LLM students
- Regulatory Governance: MA / MSc (Regulatory Governance)
- Professional Courses: Final-level students of Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, or Company Secretary programs

- Include a recommendation from the competent authority of your academic institution (mandatory)
- Submit a Statement of Purpose (around 200 words) outlining your introduction to the topic and study objectives
- Application should reach by the 1st of the month preceding the intended internship period (e.g., by 1st November for December)
- Submit the completed application online through the official website
CCI Internship’s Selection Process
The Competition Commission of India reviews applications submitted through its official portal and selects candidates based on their eligibility, academic background, and overall suitability for the internship program. It then assigns the selected interns to different divisions of the Commission in batches.
