About Assal

Assal means 'Authentic' in Marathi. We are a conscious clothing brand exploring traditional handmade textiles and crafts from different regions in India and bringing them to people in timeless pieces of clothing. Our work includes traveling to these places, documenting the process carried out by artisans, and making people more aware of those gems by sharing our discoveries. It has so far taken us to Karnataka(Ilkal, Khun), Telangana(Ikat), Andhra Pradesh(Mangalagiri, Kalamkari), Maharashtra(Kolhapuri chappals), Gujarat(Ajrakh, Kala Cotton) and most recently Rajasthan(Leheriya, Bagru).
