About Gram Bharti (Sarvodaya Ashram)
Gram Bharti is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1962 by a group of social activists who were inspired by the teachings of Gandhi, Vinoba, and Jay Prakash Narayan. Gram Bharti is a grassroots voluntary organization that has been working towards inclusive rural reconstruction to create a more sustainable and just society, following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and his vision of Gram Swaraj. Gram Bharti has been working tirelessly to create self-reliant villages without poverty and injustice since 1962. Our work spans different thematic areas in 750 villages of 12 districts in Bihar, which have created an impact in the lives of 1M+ people. Gram Bharti envisions creating an India that aligns with Bapu's dream (Bapu ke sapno ka Bharat) where villages are self-sufficient, self-reliant, and autonomous without poverty and injustice.
