About Kanak Ghiya
We aren't a company yet, and we don't even have a name (yet). What we do have is an observation that caught my attention during my last trip to India. I noticed that many young people are moving abroad or to the top eight cities in India. In general, they are starting to live away from their parents or grandparents, who are usually at least 50 years old (on average, around 55-60). This market is projected to reach USD 12Bn by 2030 according to a report by Colliers. Young people today often face a tough choice: they can either stay with their parents to take care of them or focus on their careers while worrying about their parents living alone without proper care. The elderly care industry in India is still in its early stages and isn't prepared to meet the growing demand in the coming years. It also lacks innovation, making it ripe for disruption.
