About Nari Parcham (Jagrook Mahila Sanstha Parcham)

In 1999 a small group of concerned women decided to do something instead of lamenting over the condition of society. Our concern was the pitiably deprived conditions of women in society. The Muslim woman is the worst sufferer of patriarchy-structured social order. Her all rights, religious and constitutionally sanctioned were subjugated to cultural practices. Naturally, we promised ourselves to devote ourselves to their cause. To ameliorate, them was our basic concern. We were searching for directions over the years, we learned to use right based approach, and we learned that philanthropic help will not retrieve them. They must be made aware of their rights as preached in religious texts and enshrined in our constitution. We realized that even uneducated women must be made capable of earning, leading to economic independence. They must be empowered to face unwarranted situations in life. Our activities are guided by these experiences and concerns.
