Research and Action Centre for Local Democracy is a non-profit organization that works with a vision to take democracy and holistic development to the citizens in the grassroots of India by strengthening the structures of democracy across tiers, by empowering citizens to realize their absolute power and by bringing transparency in all levels of governance. We strive to enhance the power of citizenship in the governance process. The organization works towards addressing the systematic collapse of governance at all levels because of lack of accountability that arises due to sheer ignorance forcing people to walk away from the ideals of collective ownership and collective accountability and also lack of understanding about democracy and the social contract which leads people to equate democracy 'to only the act of voting' and nothing beyond that.
