About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Working on an R&D project which involves the development of fixed-wing unmanned aircraft prototypes for military use.
2. Working on the fabrication of small prototype UAVs. For this, you will use processes like laser cutting, 3d printing, CNC hot-wire, machining, composite molding, etc.
3. Working on the design of some components in CAD for which basic CAD skills are required.
4. Working on component integration into the airframe, programming, and testing of components.
5. Working on Autopilot software, telemetry, and ground control station software for programming and operation of UAVs.
6. Involving in UAV test flights and will learn UAV operations.

Requirements:

1. The project location is at an IAF Airbase and you will be working under an IAF officer with over 18 years experience in manned and unmanned aviation.
2. You will be provided with a place to stay and hygienic meals.
3. You will also be groomed on personality development.

2. The Aeronautical students from most Pvt colleges lack the desired practical experience (limited job market in India compared to students passing out means the students with experience have an edge over the rest in getting a job in a core field).
3. This internship will give you hands-on experience that will help you get a job in the UAV field.
4. I am well-connected in the UAV industry and I know many of the founders/owners of startups/companies in this field. Those who perform well will be recommended and my recommendation has weight. The students from the previous batch have been placed well.

Who can apply

Only those candidates can apply who:

1. are available for full time (in-office) internship

2. can start the internship between 5th Apr'24 and 11th May'24

3. are available for duration of 6 months

4. have relevant skills and interests

Other requirements

1. Aeronautical engineering final semester students from 2024 passing out batch(preferred). You must be willing to spend at least 6 months here. By the end of this period, you will be prepared for the core industry.

2. Students from previous batches without a job can also apply.

3. Students from other branches like electronics, Mechatronics, robotics, etc. may also apply if they are looking to get a job in the UAV field. The minimum duration of internship for these branches is 4 months.

4. Though knowledge of CAD, 3D printing, and Aircraft design is desirable but is not essential. We understand that you are a student and may have limited practical exposure. But what is essential is an attitude to learn. You will be taught the basics of what is required and as a budding engineer, you will be expected to dive deeper, learn more, and find solutions.

5. At present we are not accepting applications from women as we cannot arrange a stay for them.

6. Discipline is an absolute must and there will be no compromise on this aspect. Any violation in this aspect will lead to termination of your internship.

7. Your place of residence and place of work will be 5 Kms apart and you will be given a cycle to come in the morning and go back in the evening after work. Don't worry no student has died to date cycling 10 km a day. Your body needs some exercise too.

The operations are not commercial and are purely for R&D to develop working prototypes for demonstration purposes. I am the founder and have I over 17 years of experience in flying military aircraft and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. We are looking for creative engineers with the motivation to work on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Design and systems integration with a small team based at Naliya near Bhuj, Gujarat.
