About the internship
Karomia is a digital-first sustainable fashion brand that redefines conscious style. Using alternate sustainable fabrics like hemp, bamboo, and aloe vera, our designs are inspired by endangered species depicted through Indian art forms like Gond, Warli, Kalamkari, and Madhubani.
As a Fashion Design Intern, you will play a critical role in conceptualizing and developing Karomia's Summer Collection.
1. Research & Trend Analysis
- Conduct in-depth research on summer fashion trends, color palettes, and sustainable materials.
- Analyze consumer preferences in our target demographic (ages 23-45) and incorporate them into designs.
- Explore creative ways to incorporate Indian art forms and endangered species into the collection's theme.
2. Design Development
- Conceptualize and sketch designs for the Summer Collection, aligning with Karomia's ethos and storytelling approach.
- Create detailed technical drawings, color boards, and mood boards for approval.
3. Prototyping & Production
- Collaborate with fabric vendors and artisans to select the right materials.
- Work with production teams to refine designs for scalability and final development.
4. Brand Storytelling
- Collaborate to write creative notes on the inspiration behind each design, including endangered species, habitats, and Indian art forms.
5. Quality Assurance
- Participate in fitting sessions and refine designs based on feedback.
- Ensure the final products meet Karomia's standards for style, comfort, and sustainability.

Other requirements
1. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in fashion design or a related field.
2. Strong sketching and design skills, with proficiency in tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software.
3. Knowledge of sustainable fabrics and a keen interest in eco-conscious fashion.
4. Understanding of Indian art forms like Gond, Warli, Kalamkari, and Madhubani is a plus
5. Passionate about storytelling through design and a commitment to sustainability.
