Fragrance Evaluator And Perfumer Internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Evaluate odors of aromatic chemicals to set production standards and ensure compliance with formulas devised in the perfume laboratory.
2. Direct workers involved in the preparation of work orders for the compounding department and review batch sheets prepared for the distillation department.
3. Visit compounding and distillation areas to determine the odor qualities of prepared materials through sensory evaluation.
4. Approve batches for finishing based on knowledge of odor characteristics and blends conforming to customer or laboratory standards.
5. Conduct fragrance evaluations in an air-filtered room using blotter strips dipped in aromatic chemicals to assess specific characteristics such as odor, body, harmony, strength, and permanence.
6. Compare the odor and color of current samples with samples from previous batches to ensure consistency and quality.
7. Reject batches not meeting criteria and communicate with distillation personnel for necessary adjustments and redistillation.
8. Devise production formulas when required and contribute to creative perfume development as a Creative Perfumer.
