About Shashank Singh

I am a practicing lawyer with 8 years of experience at the supreme court, Delhi high court, district courts, and National Green Tribunal. I also do independent research on the issue of rights of persons with disabilities. I have been diligently pursuing the specific issue of accessibility of courts and the access to justice for persons with disabilities. I have been observing matters under the rights of persons with Disabilities Act 2016 on which action is to be taken by the State Government. There are 27 such areas under the Act. For instance, in the area of Education, the State Government is required to conduct within a period of 2 years from the date of commencement of the Act, a survey of school-going children for identifying children with disabilities and ascertaining their special needs. The survey is to be conducted once every five years.

I have rich experience of working at the grassroots and monitoring the implementation of social welfare legislation.
