The intern will work in a leading plant molecular biology laboratory at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and will have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge on basic molecular biological techniques like molecular cloning, DNA/RNA isolation, conventional PCR, real-time PCR, etc., purification of recombinant proteins, site-directed mutagenesis, etc. They will also learn to generate mutants using golden gate-based CRISPR/CAS technology, and different kinds of microscopy. In addition to this, the selected intern will have the opportunity to learn to handle model plant Arabidopsis in the laboratory.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Molecular cloning- restriction base, gateway, and Golden Gate methods
2. Generating mutants using CRISPR/CAS technology
3. DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, real time PCR
4. Phenotyping of mutant plants using different kinds of assays and microscopy
5. Maintaining plants in the growth room
6. Maintaining a detailed and accurate day-to-day record of performed experiments
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. are available for full time (in-office) internship
2. can start the internship between 25th May'24 and 29th Jun'24
3. are available for duration of 6 months
