About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Help with one or more projects under the supervision of the Project Management Office (PMO) to gain exposure to Project Management methodologies and processes in a professional environment
2. Ensure smooth transition of awarded projects from Business Development to the PMO under the guidance of the Project Manager
3. Assist the Project Manager (PM) in ensuring project requirements, standards, and documentation are adhered to
4. Aid the PM in keeping projects within scope, on schedule, and within budget
5. Actively participate in developing project deliverables, applying critical judgment
6. Ensure timely and high-quality submission of all assigned project deliverables and documentation as per PM's instructions
7. Support the PM in reporting project status and health
8. Assist in identifying, managing, and resolving project risks and issues alongside the PM
9. Help monitor quality assurance and change control processes under PM's direction
10. Proactively communicate with sponsors, team members, and other stakeholders as directed by the PM for each assigned project
11. Provide support to ensure compliance with all contractual commitments defined in vendor contracts
12. Learn and receive supervision from a mentor within the Project Management Office

Other requirements

1. Currently enrolled junior, senior, or graduate student focusing on project management or management in technology at GVSU

2. Strong interest in pursuing a career in Project Management

3. Preferably, prior work experience in coordinating or managing projects

4. Assist Project Manager (PM) with project requirements, scope, scheduling, budget, risk management, quality assurance, and project status

5. Possess academic-level written and verbal communication skills

6. Strong interpersonal skills to actively listen, communicate effectively, foster trust, and demonstrate flexibility

7. Team spirit and ability to collaborate with a diverse group, provide recognition, and rewards

8. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-directed environment under deadline pressures

9. Manage own workload independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively

10. Demonstrate leadership, diplomacy, and motivational skills

11. Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail, research, and multitasking abilities

12. High computer literacy

13. Perform other project management-related tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor
