About the internship
Vertiver is a communications and knowledge consultancy that simplifies the complexities of sustainability through design and research. We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable agronomy/soil science specialist to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
We are looking for a specialist with a strong background in agronomy or soil science to work with farmers, helping them reduce chemical use in soil and adopt sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will combine their technical expertise with creative educational approaches to empower farmers with the knowledge and tools needed for a more sustainable future.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Conduct research and analysis on soil, crops, and agricultural practices to develop innovative solutions for improving crop yield and quality.
2. Provide expert advice and recommendations to farmers on crop selection, planting techniques, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control.
3. Develop and implement crop management plans, including monitoring and evaluating crop health, growth, and development.
4. Collaborate with farmers and agricultural workers to identify and address specific challenges and issues related to crop production.
5. Educate farmers on sustainable farming practices, soil conservation, and environmental stewardship.
6. Stay updated on the latest advancements in agronomy and agricultural technology, and integrate them into the company's practices
7. Develop and maintain the highest level of operational and production efficiency by overseeing all operations.
8. Evaluate crop rotations and plant varieties to optimize soil and pest management and crop production.
9. Test new crop varieties, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural inputs.

Other requirements
1. M.Sc. in agronomy/soil science or B.Sc. (hons) agriculture.
2. In-depth knowledge of soil and crop principles.
3. Strong knowledge of agricultural/crop production practices.
4. Knowledge of sustainable agriculture land management about soil and crop production.
5. Ability to manage and supervise employees.
6. Outstanding research and analytical skills.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
