About the internship
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Assisting one special needs child during school hours to make him more functional and independent using interventions & behavior modification techniques.
2. Maintaining records and reports of the development of the child.
3. Communicating with parents about the child's progress.
4. Sending daily reports to parents and Starlit.
Details:
a. Initial assignment - shadow teaching
1. Assist a child (client diagnosed with autism or ADHD, learning disability, etc) in his/her school (during school hours) with targeted intervention strategies to improve skills in the domains of behavior, concentration, and academic & social skills.
2. Prepare goals, plans, and monthly progress reports to insure the progress graph of the child.
3. Daily reports will be sent to parents regarding the behavior & performance of child at school and the intervention strategies used by the shadow teacher.
4. The job does not entail managing the physical limitations of children (wheelchair, etc.)
5. The client assigned will study at a school located near the candidate's residence to allow easy travel.
6. Intensive training will be provided by the company initially to ensure that the chosen candidate is up to the mark in terms of attributes required to be a good Therapist /Counselor for special children.
b. Later assignment - one-on-one remedial/therapy/counseling session
1. After observing shadow assignments, based on the employee's performance and skill sets, she will be given additional assignments such as remedial/therapy/counseling sessions.
2. The professional will independently conduct sessions with the guidance of the seniors.
Duration: compulsory contract commitment of 1 year
Working hours: full-time, 9 hours a day
(6 days a week, in a month any 2 Saturdays working)
