The Cybersecurity and Network Security Research Intern will engage in research and practical implementation of secure and efficient networking solutions. The role involves working on projects focused on network design, security protocols, and performance analysis in both traditional and modern networking environments, including wireless and ad hoc networks. Interns will gain hands-on experience with advanced tools, simulation platforms, and emerging technologies in cybersecurity and networking.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Network design and security implementation:
a. Design and deploy secure network architectures using VLANs, ACLs, and firewalls (e.g., iptables).
b. Implement secure communication protocols such as WPA3, TLS, and PKI to enhance data security.
2. Simulation and performance analysis:
a. Simulate networking scenarios with tools like NS-3, OMNeT++, and Mininet.
b. Analyze network performance metrics, including QoS, congestion control, and dynamic load balancing.
3. Research and Development in Wireless and Ad Hoc Networks:
a. Investigate energy-efficient routing protocols and clustering techniques in wireless sensor networks (WSNs).
b. Study the impact of node density, mobility models, and latency in wireless ad hoc networks like VANETs.
4. Cybersecurity practices and solutions:
a. Develop and evaluate intrusion detection (IDS) and prevention systems (IPS) using tools like Snort.
b. Implement secure file transfer mechanisms and end-to-end encryption for email systems.
5. Evaluation of emerging cybersecurity threats:
a. Research mitigation strategies for DDoS and man-in-the-middle attacks.
b. Assess the effectiveness of data loss prevention (DLP) tools in corporate environments.
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. are available for the work from home job/internship
2. can start the work from home job/internship between 13th Jan'25 and 17th Feb'25
3. are available for duration of 6 months
4. have relevant skills and interests
* Women wanting to start/restart their career can also apply.
