About the work from home job/internship

About the Project: The Environment and Forestry Internship is part of a short-term study aimed at understanding the role of forests as social protection and safety nets for forest-dependent communities in six states of India: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, and Tripura. This internship project focuses on investigating the significance of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in sustaining livelihoods within these communities. Notable NTFPs include bamboo, mahua, fodder, and firewood, and we are also open to exploring niche products such as custard apple (e.g., in Chhindwara, MP), cashew nuts (in Nayagarh, Odisha), and crabs (in Kakinada, Odisha).

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Identify case studies within specified states where forest-dependent communities rely on NTFPs for livelihoods
2. Articulate comprehensive approaches and methodologies for the identified case studies, incorporating local contexts and products
3. Establish the significance of NTFPs in the livelihoods basket of forest-dependent communities
4. Investigate and demonstrate the flow of revenues generated from NTFPs within communities
5. Analyze how women and other marginalized households specifically benefit from NTFP revenues, particularly during economic stress
6. Prepare detailed reports within 8 10 pages, integrating flow charts, tables, pictures, and references

Note: Justified and preapproved local travel expenses will be reimbursed.
