About the internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Design Support: Assist in creating detailed CAD models and drawings for turbine components
2. Prototyping: Help in building and testing prototypes using 3D printing and other fabrication methods
3. Data Collection: Monitor and record performance data during testing phases, ensuring accurate documentation
4. Testing and Analysis: Participate in conducting tests on turbine performance, analyzing results, and suggesting design improvements
5. Circuit Work: Assist in designing, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical circuits related to turbine operation and monitoring systems
6. Programming: Help program microcontrollers for data collection and automation tasks
7. Collaboration: Work with professors and other interns to brainstorm ideas, develop solutions, and present findings
8. Research: Conduct literature reviews on vortex turbines and related technologies to inform design decisions
9. Meetings: Attend regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and next steps

Other requirements

1. Fundamentals of Fluid Dynamics: Understanding of how fluids behave

2. CAD Software Proficiency: Experience with software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA for design modeling

3. Material Science Knowledge: Familiarity with materials suitable for turbine construction, including their strengths and weaknesses

4. Prototyping Skills: Experience in building and testing prototypes, possibly using 3D printing or CNC machining

5. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze performance data and make adjustments to designs based on testing

6. Basic Mechanical Systems Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical components such as bearings, gears, and shafts
