About Nan Kum

Nandita Kumar explores the elemental process through which human beings construct meaning from their experiences, by creating sensory narratives through the usage of sound, video/animation, smartphone apps, hacked plotters, customized motherboards, sensors, and solar cells. In her research, she attempts to locate inherent patterns, modes of sustainability, cultural hybridity, technology, and the synergy between nature and our current urban environment. Through her installations, which seamlessly integrate new media and materiality, she envisions creating work that propels individuals towards progressive consciousness by connecting the self, body, community, and ecology. Nandita has been shown in KIASMA, ZKM, LACMA, REDCAT, ISEA, Jeu de Paume, Film Archive NY, and NTAA.
