Key responsibilities:

1. Diagnose and treat heart and blood vessel disorders
2. Conduct physical exams, take medical histories, and order diagnostic tests (e.g., ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests)
3. Develop treatment plans, including medications, surgeries, and lifestyle changes
4. Perform procedures like angioplasty, stenting, and catheterization
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
6. Stay up-to-date with advances in cardiology through ongoing education and research
7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

Other requirements

Education and Training:

1. Bachelors degree in a science-related field

2. Medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree

3. Residency program in internal medicine

4. Fellowship program in cardiology

5. Licensure to practice medicine in the state where they work

6. Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM)
