The Career Guidance Counselor will play a crucial role in assisting youths, particularly from low-income communities in navigating their career paths. The primary focus of the role is to provide comprehensive guidance, support, and resources to empower youths to make informed decisions regarding their education and career choices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct one-to-one career counseling sessions with individual youth to understand the unique needs, aspirations, and challenges of youths.
2. Provide guidance on educational pathways, skill development, and career options based on individual strengths and interests.
3. Facilitate career exploration activities to help youths identify potential fields of interest.
4. Assist youths in creating long-term career plans, considering their skills, values, and goals.
5. Identify skill gaps and recommend appropriate training programs.
6. Connect youths with skill-building opportunities to enhance their employability.
7. Provide coaching and preparation for job interviews, including mock interviews and feedback.
8. Organize and conduct workshops, seminars, and group sessions on career-related topics.
9. Generate reports on the impact of career guidance programs for organizational evaluation.
10. Support the rest of the team members as and when required.
1. Education: BA/MA in Psychology/Counseling/Training or Post Graduation in any field
2. Certification in career counseling or a related field is desirable.
3. Experience: Preferably1-2 years of experience in Career Counseling
4. Ability to conduct a batch of 25 to 30 students.
5. Ability to counsel the students appropriately, which will enable them to make the right decisions towards their careers.
6. Empathy and a genuine interest in helping individuals achieve their career goals.
7. Knowledge of local job markets, educational institutions, and vocational training programs.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills in local language, Hindi and English
9. Immediate joiners are preferred.

Lighthouse Communities Foundation works in the area of skilling and livelihoods for underserved youth. This is a pioneering program with a strong PPP model, an agency-led approach to livelihoods, and a vision of socio-economic transformation. The Lighthouses are run through a public-private partnership that empowers the government, corporates, NGOs, and citizens to work together toward changing lives. The provision of location and capital expenditure for the Lighthouse centers is taken care of by the government. Corporates contribute through CSR funds to provide operational expenses. NGOs come on board to provide various skilling courses to the youth. With penetration in more than 400 of the 500-odd slum communities of Pune, the program has now expanded to other cities viz. PCMC, Dombivali, Aurangabad and also States viz. Delhi, Odisha, and Hyderabad.
