About the job

Key responsibilities:

1. Lead and guide the team to ensure 100% accuracy in financial transactions, following established instructions.
2. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including:
a. Accounts payable/receivable
b. Cash receipts
c. General ledger
d. Payroll and utilities
e. Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
f. Check runs
g. Debt activity
3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets and income statements).
4. Prepare tax returns and ensure taxes are paid correctly and on time.
5. Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies.
6. Perform month-end and year-end closing processes.
7. Prepare and maintain important financial reports.
8. Assign tasks and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
9. Evaluate financial operations to recommend best practices, identify issues, strategize solutions, and enhance organizational efficiency.
10. Oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
11. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
12. Provide recommendations to improve systems and procedures, and initiate corrective actions where necessary.

1. Ability to lead and supervise a team.

2. Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (including VLOOKUP and pivot tables) and accounting software.

3. In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures.

4. Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures, principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

5. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data with attention to detail.

6. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

7. Strong time-management skills.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle data following standard digital security protocols.

9. Passionate about excelling in the role and motivating the team.
