About the job

Key responsibilities:

1. Dispense Medications: Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications to customers, ensuring correct dosage, labeling, and instructions.
2. Customer Consultation: Provide advice and information to customers regarding prescription medications, OTC drugs, and health-related concerns, ensuring safe and appropriate use of medications.
3. Counter Sales: Assist customers at the pharmacy counter with product inquiries, purchase recommendations, and sales of OTC products, including vitamins, supplements, and personal care items.
4. Medication Therapy Management (MTM): Assess and review patient prescriptions and medications for potential drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies, and suggest appropriate alternatives when needed.
5. Inventory Management: Monitor medication stock levels, assist with inventory control, and place orders to ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked and that stock rotation is followed.
6. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all sales, dispensations, and transactions comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., legal documentation, prescriptions, and patient privacy).
7. Patient Education: Educate patients on the proper use of medications, potential side effects, and what to do in case of adverse reactions or missed doses.
8. Promote Health and Wellness: Encourage health promotion and wellness initiatives, including flu shots, vaccination services, and other health screening programs.
9. Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care and treatment for patients.
10. Maintain Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure the pharmacy counter and storage areas are clean, well-organized, and compliant with health and safety standards.
11. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest pharmaceutical research, drug regulations, and industry best practices.
