The LEAD BY dESIGN program is an opportunity for you to share your tinkering passion with children in marginalized communities to help them build the Creative Confidence they need to dream bigger and create their future.
Skills needed
1.Operate basic hardware equipment
2. Good knowledge of basic Math
3. Assessment and documentation (Basic photography and videography skills)
4. Individuals with hands-on experience in Tinkering is preferred.
Responsibility as a design mentor
1. Highly motivated to work with young children (ages 9-13) from an economically marginalized background
2. Must be able to facilitate design thinking sessions (Design framework will be provided) and the ability to adapt sessions according to the context.
3. Engage with the local community and co-create with them.
4. Ability to work in teams
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. are available for the part time job/internship
2. can start the part time job/internship between 4th Jul'19 and 3rd Aug'19
3. are available for duration of 6 months
4. are from or open to relocate to Chennai and neighboring cities
5. have relevant skills and interests

dHive is an award-winning not-for-profit organization, which imparts leadership skills in young students through social design and innovation. Thus far, we have intervened in schools in rural Maharashtra, rural Pondicherry, and low-income school here in Chennai where children built solutions for the challenges that were pertinent to their community. Through their work, children have been recognized with awards from National design competitions as well as received scholarships for their higher education. The scale-up of children's innovations created an alternate source of livelihood for women in their community.
Inspired by their journey, we are launching -LEAD BY DESIGN- after school program wherein we build leadership skills in students from grade 4-8 through social design education.
