Established in 2003, with the sole purpose of empowering persons with blindness, Saksham has always believed in limiting limitations through providing assistive devices and training to use those devices and has made many of visually impaired 'Saksham'. The organization is also working to make cinema accessible for persons with visual and hearing impairments. An online library that provides access to books to persons with print disabilities is one of the huge successes of the organization. Saksham also has a school for children with blindness and multiple disabilities with the vision to provide special training, additional attention, and the specialized education they need. The organization is leaving no stone unturned to achieve its aim to empower persons with visual empowerment and to build a sensitized and motivated society that acknowledges the value of interdependence and appreciates the abilities of persons with disabilities and willingly provides equal opportunities for all.
